Natural resources, as one of the important factors in the economic progress of countries, have a special place in the formulation of macroeconomic strategies, and how to acquire and exploit them is considered one of the fundamental issues of economic systems. In the Islamic economic system, possession is considered one of the means of acquiring natural resources, and examining the conditions for acquiring ownership through possession from the perspective of jurisprudence and its relationship with fundamental economic issues such as types of ownership, economic freedom, and social justice, plays an effective role in explaining the infrastructure of the Islamic economic system.
The present study, while examining the definition, documentation, and pillars of the rule of possession in Islamic jurisprudence and its relationship with important economic issues, concludes that in the acquisition of natural resources, in addition to creating limited freedom for individuals to acquire natural resources through economic work, Islam also gives the Islamic state the authority to prevent the emergence of monopoly and social inequality by monitoring the possession of individuals, as well as the direct exploitation of resources and their fair distribution.
