Abstract
This study focuses on the evaluation and development of benevolent loan (Qard-al-Hasan) indices in Islamic banking, aimed at enhancing financial ethics and social responsibility. Qard-al-Hasan indices, guiding Islamic banks in providing interest-free loans in accordance with Sharia principles, are scrutinized for their significant role in promoting economic justice. The research methodology encompasses content analysis through semi-structured expert interviews and open coding. The Best-Worst Method (BWM) was employed for identifying, weighting, and prioritizing categories and subcategories. Findings underscore the centrality of objectives such as poverty reduction and the realization of social justice within the Qard-al-Hasan indices framework. Moreover, the study highlights the importance of enhancing resource management and productivity through the optimization of processes and benevolent loan policies. The development of efficiency criteria to ensure sustainability and continuous growth in Islamic banking is another key finding of this research. However, limitations such as the qualitative nature of the data and the geographical constraints of the interviews may impact the uniformity and quality of the data. To overcome these limitations, future research should adopt broader quantitative and qualitative approaches to achieve a deeper understanding of the impact of Qard-al-Hasan indices on economic and social objectives.
